Maine Maritime Museum Presents Chowderfest 2010

Chowderfest 2010 was a grand celebration of the merger between Maine Maritime Museum and Portland Harbor Museum. Full of great food, entertainment and fun, it was held at the spectacular Ocean Gateway facility on the Portland waterfront. Chowderfest 2010 presented the public with a rare opportunity to support the preservation of Maine's maritime heritage while enjoying an evening with family and friends.

A component of Chowderfest 2010 that all agreed was outstanding, was a raffle to be determined the evening of the event. Although the tickets were drawn at Chowderfest, the winners didn’t have to be present to claim their prizes. This raffle was unique and the prizes were exceptional including:

• Pilot-for-a-Day excursion on a Portland Harbor pilot boat
• Private VIP tour for four of Bath Iron Works and MMM's Collection Storage; lunch included
• Four-hour sport fishing trip for four; picnic lunch included
• Boat building weekend for four at MMM - you get to keep the boat you build; includes lodging and dinner
• LL Bean sea kayak package, and kayak lessons

A note about Photography by Kirk M. Rogers… My primary photographic endeavors involve astronomy - shooting the night sky with telescopes or wide field lenses, and nature photography with both macro and long focal length lenses. In recent times I’ve done far more daylight work including many image sessions at National Wildlife Refuges in various parts of the United States. This summer I’ve been fortunate to have attended multiple sessions on Maine’s seabird islands with my cameras photographing birds, eggs, chicks, and of course, the stunning scenery. Should you be interested in viewing more of my work please visit my website, A Shot in the Dark. There you will find travel photojournals - a venue used for many of my 'daylight' images, a gallery of astronomical works and one of my specialty pursuits, a Bird Photography Index. All images in this account are by the author unless noted otherwise. I control my workflow from image acquisition through printing and offer fine art prints from my digital lab for sale, with an association with a Portland frame shop for mounting/framing. The web versions are nice, but a full resolution print significantly enhances the beauty of these images; all are ©2010 Photography by Kirk M.
