I’ve been gearing up for ‘earthbound’ photography for a few years and started imaging birds with the advent of summer in 2006.
This endeavor became a bit more ambitious
with the addition of a Canon 500mm f/4L image stabilized lens in July of that year. As I was developing
a significant database of images with no proper display venue, I decided to add this section to
my website.
For details of my 'earthbound' imaging system please refer to my article:
My Canon Photographic System.

Because many of my birding compatriots are asking about recent photographs I decided to change my format a bit during this migration period. I’ve constructed galleries by date and will post them so anyone who wishes can quickly peruse
the images in lieu of looking up individual species. What can be viewed here is a sampling of what was photographed and gleaned from the group during the month. I’ll continue to add to it…

An extremely slow morning birding Evergreen Cemetery... However, I did manage some exposures at distance including a new species, the
Black-throated Blue Warbler, a beautiful bird.
I also added new images yesterday to the Warbler Shadows special edition gallery.

Spent another morning seeking warblers at Evergreen Cemetery... Before anyone checks the new postings please be advised that the colors displayed are right from the digital capture. In most cases a flash was used.
No saturation boosting was done to any of these photographs. As a matter of fact other than cropping, some form of histogram stretch and some capture sharpening these images are pretty much unaltered.
New postings have been added to:
American Redstart;
Magnolia Warbler - check these out (!);
Palm Warbler and the
Yellow-rumped Warbler.
I also added new images to the Warbler Shadows special edition gallery.
